Mona runs a community sewing school Bow Sewing Centre on a housing estate in Poplar, Tower Hamlets. Mona is a real fixture of the community and money from these t-shirts goes to funding her business. This frees up more time for her to teach sewing lessons for women from low income backgrounds, and people with disabilities on the estate. She's been holding these lessons for fifteen years.

We pay a London Living Wage of at least £10.55 per hour for Mona's machine embroidery, which equates to around £7 a t-shirt, including plenty of chat and tea and coffee breaks.

"Birdsong have a strong impact, they help me grow my business, sell and market in ways I couldn't. There's a harmony between our ways of working, we understand each other." - Mona
