The fresh face of our Birdsong summer campaign is Aoise, friend of the brand and founder of Supply Change. Supply Change is a platform that connects businesses with social missions - like Birdsong - to the public sector, helping them to have a greater social impact in their local communities. Whether that’s a local council partnering with a recycling plant that employs ex offenders, or a housing association paying people with disabilities to do their mail, every need has a feel good solution.
There are 100,000 social enterprises in the UK, but local councils and public institutions are still using solutions from purely profit driven private businesses. By connecting all kinds of social enterprises, large and small, to these business needs, Aoise and her co-founders hope to create a public infrastructure that’s good for people - and for planet - on every level.

Mainly public sector decision makers are still stuck in their ways, but Aoise hopes to shake that up, and reveal a new way of doing things. “I have a unique perspective, being a half-Iranian, half-Irish woman. I hope to bring some fresh and unrestrained thinking to the sector.”
Though not an easy task to take on, Aoise’s ambitions to reshuffle the public domain, and flood it with fresh social businesses comes from a real belief in social enterprise, “Through the experience of co-founding Supply Change, I have fostered resourcefulness, innovative thinking and resilience. I strongly believe that every pound of public money spent is a vote cast for the kind of society we want to live in.”
Aoise says, “Take 'Recycling Lives' for example, a waste management social enterprise who, in the last two years, have created over £9m in social value through savings to society by rehabilitating and employing ex-offenders. This example shows how progressive procurement makes sense, however, it still wasn’t commonplace.”
